We may have been quiet for a bit, but on this day, we’re ready to make some noise. Let’s start by with the San Francisco Brewers Guild’s two flagship beer events: SF Beer Week and Brews on the Bay.

8th Annual SF Beer Week
January 22 – 31, 2016**

This year, for the first time, SF Beer Week will be setting the table for the Super Bowl, which is taking place in San Francisco on Feb. 7. We share the excitement of such a spectacular moment in San Francisco history, so much so we’re putting our nation’s love of football at the heart of this year’s SF Beer Week “super” theme.

Featuring over 20 Guild breweries and dozens of celebrated Northern California breweries that collectively make the Bay Area an internationally renowned craft beer destination, SF Beer Week’s Opening Gala will take place on Friday, January 22, with subsequent Beer Week events running through January 31 and spanning from Santa Cruz to Santa Rosa. Additional details regarding the Opening Gala and event sign-up will be announced in the coming months, so please stay up to date at sfbeerweek.org, via Twitter and Facebook.

** Note: Super Bowl 50, being held in the Bay area Feb. 7, and with its extraordinary festivities, activities and infrastructure demands, made it impossible to kick off SFBW on its traditional opening date (the first Friday of February). SFBW will return to its traditional format in 2017.

12th Annual Brews on the Bay
Returning to the Historic S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien at Pier 45
Saturday, October 24, 2015

Brews on the Bay will once again climb aboard the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien on Saturday, October 24, 2015 (12pm – 5pm). Over 20 San Francisco breweries will be joining forces for a day of unlimited eight-ounce pours, local food trucks, and local bands, bringing much good cheer to Pier 45. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of hometown heroes the Grateful Dead and the spooky spirit of Halloween, this year’s Brews on the Bay takes on a “Ship of Fools” theme (a song from the Dead’s album, From the Mars Hotel).

Tickets for Brews on the Bay go one sale this Friday, July 17, at 10:30am. You can get a taste of the fun here.

New Faces at the San Francisco Brewers Guild

Two new breweries have joined the San Francisco Brewers Guild — Local Brewing Co. (Mission Bay) and Sunset Reservoir Brewing Co. (Outer Sunset). We’ll be profiling each in upcoming posts but for now, visit these awesome new breweries and show them some well-deserved love!

We’ve also got a new executive director taking the helm, Joanne Marino. That’s me, and I’ll be working hard to maintain the quality and continue the success so well cultivated by my predecessor, Brian Stechschulte. I’m honored to have this opportunity and will do my best to put my experiences with Austin Beer Week, craft beer festivals and startups to maximum use in making that happen.

Come Meet Us!

This Wednesday, July 15, is our monthly “Meet the Brewers” night — and we mean it! Always open to the public, these monthly meet-and-greets are a great opportunity to get to know your local brewers while enjoying a great night out.

This month, we’ll be at Triple Voodoo Brewery & Taproom (2245 3rd St,), and they’ve got a real treat lined up. They’ll be tapping a cask of Wise Fool IPA, a dank and sticky IPA with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy and Falconer’s Flight hops. The evil-doers at Triple Voodoo didn’t stop there, infusing this cask with still more Galaxy hops for an even more vexing brew.

Don’t miss this great brew. And check out the complete 2015 Meet the Brewers night schedule (upcoming hosts are Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant, Bartlett Hall, Southpaw BBQ, Cerveceria de Mateveza and 21st Amendment), plus get the skinny on other Guild events, at our Events page. Whew! Thanks for getting through all this news! We’re excited about what’s to come and hope you are, too.
