Standard Deviant Brewing began operations in 2016. Our focus is on great beer and great community. We work hard to produce high quality, drinkable, delicious craft beers that combine traditional recipes with subtle twists. We work equally hard to make our taproom space inviting and warm for all. So far, so good!
Our taproom and tasting room is open for business, currently Thursday to Sunday, and we’ve been thrilled by our quick reception in the neighborhood and the support of so many great locals. Because of our wide open space, giant roll-up door, sky lights, and picnic tables, folks can spread out, play games, or relax however they choose. We’ve also had a lot of fun with weekly private events in the space; we can accommodate just about any type of event you can think of. We are also self-distributing beer to bars and vendors in San Francisco – we’re on tap in 40 establishments so far and growing each week.
The business, the beer, and the community are the creation of three of us with distinct and complimentary backgrounds. Paul Duatschek is our master brewer and original visionary of the concept – he’s been brewing for a decade both commercially and home-based, and comes from a biotech background. He’s currently running our 10-barrel brewhouse as a one-man operation and making amazing beer, which is no small feat. Mark DeVito is our sales and industry pro – he’s owned a portfolio of bars in SF for a decade and is well-networked in the field. He organizes our self-distribution strategy and executes the logistics. And he guided the creation of our phenomenal customer space that so many folks have come to love already. Dave Azzam is our business guy, or “the glue”, guiding our finance and accounting, contracting, legal, permitting, operational management, business development, and everything in between. Dave comes from a decade of developing and financing renewable energy power plants.
And since we’re owner-operated, you can find all three of us behind the bar on any given weekend, slinging beers and good fortune. Come on in and enjoy San Francisco’s coldest tasting beer!
