A very special Memorial Day beer release comes tomorrow (5/25) at Ferment.Drink.Repeat when, at 3pm, Fallen Comrade Red Ale will be tapped and glasses of this honorary beer hoisted in tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.

The ale’s recipe is highly symbolic — red a nod to the blood shed by the fallen; lemon in the boil acknowledging this bitter fate; a dash of salt for the tears shed by loved ones left behind. The intent? Remind people of Memorial Day’s true meaning: honoring fallen service men and women specifically.

A year after launching this heartfelt project, FDR has inspired breweries across the country to release their own Fallen Comrade Red Ales — Against the Grain Brewery (Kentucky), 49th State Brewing (Alaska), Deuces Wild Brewing (Colorado) and All-American Ale Works (So. California) — with proceeds going to The Memory Box Project.

Try Fallen Comrade at FDR this weekend — except Monday, of courese, when FDR will be closed in observance Memorial Day, encouraging others to join observance ceremonies in their areas.
