The Drink SF Beer shuttle heads to Dogpatch where a wonderful surprise awaits — a limited-release tasting event at the historic Anchor Brewing Co. This special Meet the Brewers night also features the FREE Drink SF Beer shuttle — which will be looping between these popular breweries:  Harmonic BrewingSmokestack At Magnolia Brewing and Triple Voodoo Brewery.

It all starts at 6pm, and we’re honored to be holding this special Meet the Brewers night at SF’s legendary Anchor Brewing Company. Yes, we’ve heard the news, but this month, we are focused on honoring this legendary brewery and its pioneering contributions to the craft beer industry, when Fritz Maytag kept Anchor and Anchor Steam alive and arguably single-handedly kick-started the craft beer revolution in 1965, right here in San Francisco.

By 1977, Anchor and a dozen employees were brewing beer styles nearly lost to the American palate, such as the pale ale, porter and barleywine, using traditional techniques like dry-hopping and open fermentation. That year, Anchor outgrew its 8th Street brewery. After a long search, Maytag purchased an old coffee roastery, built in 1937, on nearby Potrero Hill. On August 13, 1979, Anchor brewed its first Steam beer at its new Mariposa Street home.

Almost 38 years later to the day, it’s this home that will be hosting this month’s Meet the Brewers night on August 16, and we invite you to pay homage with us.

Come chat with the Anchor team, enjoy special samplers — including a few rare limited release brews as well as the freshest Anchor Steam you’ve ever had — and check out a Beer Education Station. The latter will feature different ingredients that you’ll be able to touch, smell and taste, including unique varieties of whole-cone hops and a wide range of malts. You’ll get to ‘meet’ Anchor’s in-house yeast strains and see that traditional brewing process first hand. So join us as give a well-deserved nod to our friends at Anchor.

Of course, that’s not the only thing happening this night. Free shuttles will be operating nonstop from 6:30-10:30pm, stopping every 5-10 minutes at each Dogpatch brewery, making it easy for you and your friends to ‘hop on, hop off’ at any stop. You can also download the Chariot app to track shuttles in real time (reg req’d).

Add our 3rd Wednesday Meet the Brewers nights to your calendar. The full 2017 schedule and more is posted at

The #DrinkSFBeer shuttle is FREE, and will be stopping between each stop every 10 min. Just hop on, hop off at any stop (no need to reserve a seat). Riders can download the Chariot app on iTunes or Google Play, register, then track the shuttle in real time, too.
