It may have been brisk on the deck of the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien, but that didn’t stop 1,200 craft beer lovers from coming aboard to sample over 60 different San Francisco beers last Saturday at the 8th edition of Brews on the Bay. The event was a big success and we want to thank everyone who attended, helped make it possible and run smoothly.

This year’s festivities brought a few notable changes. After joining the Guild back in June, Anchor Brewing came aboard for the first time to serve nearly their entire lineup. We also welcomed two food trucks on the pier so guests could nosh on great local fare. Special thanks to Ebbett’s Good to Go for serving up a selection of appealing sandwiches and Doc’s of the Bay for flipping delectable burgers. Next to the trucks we also united under one tent to pour beer from each member brewery.

Musical entertainment on the ship’s deck was provided by the country swinging Saddle Cats, whose infectious melodies were the perfect backdrop for stunning views and festive atmosphere. They churned up a mix of cowboy ballads, blues and honky-tonk that inspired quite a few people to jump and jive. Thanks gentlemen!

Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank the crew of the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien. Their wonderful historic ship makes this event one of the most unique beer festivals in the world. Without their hard work and help it simply wouldn’t be possible.

Next year we’ll continue to fine tune the festivities and hope you can join us again.

Cheers and thanks for drinking local beer!
